Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, inaugurated the Command and Control Center for the People’s Bus Service on Tuesday.
The state-of-the-art facility, located at the Sindh Mass Transit Authority office in Clifton, Karachi, is designed to oversee and live-track all operations of the People’s Bus Service. It aims to ensure smooth management and efficient transportation services across Sindh, according to Pak Observer.
During the inauguration, Memon highlighted the importance of the new center. He explained that it enables real-time monitoring and guidance to ensure the bus service runs effectively. The system prioritizes passenger convenience by monitoring live video feeds and ensuring staff follow protocols. Passengers can report issues like overcharging or misconduct through dedicated complaint channels.
The Command and Control Center also enhances passenger security. Lost or stolen items can be tracked using live monitoring cameras, making resolutions quicker. Memon stated that this advanced system, the first of its kind in Sindh, matches global standards. Complaint numbers are also available for timely grievance redressal.
Memon emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to modernizing public services. Following the introduction of a card-based ticketing system, this new initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve public transportation. He promised more facilities to align local services with international standards, aiming to enhance the quality of life for Sindh’s residents.
Addressing media questions, Memon criticized a group planning protests on November 24, accusing them of causing unrest and disruption. He reaffirmed the government’s focus on stability and progress, dismissing attempts to create disorder. This initiative, he noted, reflects the government’s vision for a more modern and inclusive public transport system.
