The draft dates for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan have been released, but reports suggest that the Indian men’s cricket team will unlikely travel to Pakistan next year.
According to a report published by Sports Tak on July 6, the Men in Blue will not be traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
“While the tournament details are not yet finalized, it is highly unlikely that the Indian team will travel to Pakistan. The decision ultimately rests with the Indian government. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to address this issue at the upcoming ICC meeting in Sri Lanka this month,” a source told Sports Tak.
“The government’s decision on this matter will be final, as we have not yet confirmed it internally. Since this is an ICC event, we cannot make any unilateral decisions. More details may emerge during the next ICC meeting,” the source added.
Since 2008, India has not traveled to Pakistan and only played a bilateral series once in 2012–13. Although India was supposed to travel to Pakistan in 2023 for the Asia Cup, the tournament was held in a hybrid mode. India’s matches, including the final, were played in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s Draft for CT 2025:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted its draft for the Champions Trophy 2025. Assigning seven matches to Lahore, five to Rawalpindi, and three to Karachi.
According to the draft, India and Pakistan will play at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 1.
“The PCB has submitted the draft for the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven games will be in Lahore, three in Karachi, and five in Rawalpindi,” PTI quoted an ICC source.
“The opening match will be held in Karachi. With the two semifinals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, and the final in Lahore. All India matches (including semifinals, if the team qualifies) will be played in Lahore,” the source added.
