Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed that Islamabad police arrested party chairman Barrister Gohar and lawyer Salman Akram Raja.
According to PTI’s statement, the police stopped their vehicle near Sector H-13 and took them away in a van.
In another incident, PTI supporters in Committee Chowk, Rawalpindi, threw stones at the police. The police responded with tear gas and arrested several party members.
Later, Barrister Gohar and Salman Akram Raja were released but were barred from going to Rawalpindi. Barrister Gohar confirmed that they were held briefly before being released.
It’s worth mentioning that PTI has planned a protest in Rawalpindi despite local authorities’ imposition of Section 144. All routes from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Rawalpindi have been blocked.
