The Balochistan Assembly has passed a resolution demanding an immediate ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party after its recent violent protests in Islamabad.
The resolution follows PTI’s three-day protest in Islamabad, which turned violent before it was called off.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tabled the resolution, accusing PTI of promoting an “anarchist agenda.” It also blames the party for the events of May 9, when public property and military installations were attacked nationwide.
The resolution criticizes PTI for its alleged “anti-state” activities, claiming it tried to create unrest against the federal government. It also accuses the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, led by PTI, of misusing state resources to challenge the Centre.
National Party President Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch opposed the resolution during the assembly session. He warned the government that similar actions could target other parties like the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N in the future.
“We haven’t learned from past bans on Jamat-e-Islami and Awami National Party,” said Dr. Baloch. He also criticized those who once opposed Nawaz Sharif but later joined the PML-N.
