Babar Azam Maintains Top Spot in ODI Rankings

Pakistan’s former captain, Babar Azam, continues to dominate the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, holding the No. 1 position.

Babar’s consistency was evident during Pakistan’s recent series against Australia, where he scored 80 runs with just one dismissal. His impressive form has helped him maintain his place at the top of the rankings.

Alongside Babar, Shaheen Afridi has regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings, a position he previously held during the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Afridi’s standout performance in Pakistan’s victory over Australia, where he took eight wickets in three matches with an average of 12.62, played a key role in his return to the top. This achievement makes Pakistan the only team with the No. 1-ranked player in both ODI batting and bowling.

Other key performances include Haris Rauf, who reached a career-best 13th spot in the bowling rankings after claiming 10 wickets against Australia. Naseem Shah also made significant progress, climbing 14 spots to reach 55th. Pakistan’s new ODI captain, Mohammad Rizwan, moved up to 23rd in the batting rankings.

In ODI bowling, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz made gains, with Mehidy rising nine spots to 23rd.

In the T20I rankings, England’s Phil Salt and Jos Buttler moved up to second and sixth, respectively, after strong performances against the West Indies. South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks and Tristan Stubbs also saw improvements, with Stubbs jumping 12 spots to 26th.

In T20I bowling, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga advanced to second place, just behind England’s Adil Rashid. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and India’s Ravi Bishnoi also climbed, reaching third and seventh, respectively.
