Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tied the knot on Friday after seven months of lavish pre-wedding celebrations, with thousands of guests attending the grand event.
Famous faces like Kim and Khloé Kardashian, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair flew to Mumbai for the star-studded wedding.
The event drew many top names from Indian entertainment, sports, business, and politics. Bollywood stars Rajinikanth and Sanjay Dutt, former president Ram Nath Kovind, various state chief ministers, and members of India’s revered cricket team were all present.
International guests honored the traditional dress code. John Cena walked the red carpet in an embroidered sky blue sherwani and white pants, while Nick Jonas sparkled in a baby pink outfit made of a bouclé-style woven fabric with sequins, paired with matching satin trousers. Jonas arrived with his wife, actor Priyanka Chopra, who wore an intricately embellished sunshine yellow sari.
Fashion enthusiasts also made a statement. Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, wore a mauve velvet jacket, purple tunic, and Schiaparelli gold-toed shoes. Designer Prabal Gurung donned a rose-colored sherwani and aviator sunglasses. Kim and Khloé Kardashian, who skipped the red carpet, shared their gold and red saris on social media. Kim’s outfit featured an off-the-shoulder tasseled bodice, while Khloé chose long, ornate sleeves, stacked necklaces, and an elaborate maang tikka. Kim hinted in an Instagram story that their film crew was there for an episode of “The Kardashians.”
The couple shined on their special day. The groom first appeared on the red carpet in a golden sherwani paired with sneakers, later changing for the ceremony. The bride was dazzled by hand-embroidered bridal couture by the Indian label Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Merchants followed the Gujarati tradition of wearing red and white with an opulent red-trimmed ivory ensemble. Her outfit featured a 16-foot-long veil adorned with stones and sequins and a long ghagra with a nearly seven-foot-long detachable train, as her stylist, Rhea Kapoor, shared on Instagram.
