Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was arrested following a tragic stampede during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, on December 4.
According to Indian Express, the incident resulted in the death of 39-year-old M. Revathi and left her son critically injured. On Friday, police took the actor into custody from his Hyderabad home and escorted him to the Chikkadapalli police station.
A video of the arrest went viral, showing the National Award-winning actor leaving his home and heading to the police vehicle. His father, Allu Aravind, brother, Allu Sirish, and wife, Sneha Reddy, were present during the arrest.
Before stepping into the car, Arjun was seen sipping coffee and sharing a light moment with his wife, who smiled at his remarks. He briefly interacted with the police, kissed his wife goodbye, and got into the car with a smile.
A police official stated that while Arjun did not resist arrest, he expressed displeasure about the police entering his bedroom without prior notice. He also mentioned that he was not given time to change or finish his breakfast before being taken into custody.
After the stampede, Hyderabad Police Deputy Commissioner Akshansh Yadav confirmed that an FIR was registered at Chikkadapalli police station.
The charges against Arjun include sections under BNS 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (causing hurt or grievous hurt). The complaint was filed by the deceased victim’s family. Yadav assured that strict legal action would be taken against all those responsible for the tragedy.
