Adnan Siddiqui Slams Bollywood for Copying Reshma Jee’s Iconic Song

Actor Adnan Siddiqui has criticized Bollywood for remaking Pakistan’s iconic singer Reshma’s song Akhiyaan Nu Rehn De Kol in the upcoming film Do Patti. Siddiqui called the new version, Akhiyaan De Kol, a “cheap copy” and expressed his disappointment on social media.

Reshma, known for her soulful voice and timeless classics like Lambi Judai, originally recorded the song in 1975. The remake, sung by Shilpa Rao with lyrics by Kausar Munir, has sparked backlash from fans and critics alike, who accuse Bollywood of disrespecting a cultural treasure.

Do Patti, directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi and starring Kriti Sanon and Kajol, will be released on Netflix on October 25, 2024. Before its release, the film’s version of the song ignited controversy.

Siddiqui shared his frustration, saying, “Imitation can be flattering, but not when it disrespects a legend like Reshma Jee. Her music deserves dignity, not a cheap remake.”

Fans echoed his views, with one user commenting, “Stop stealing Pakistani songs,” while another added, “Reshma Ji would have never imagined her song being portrayed this way.”
