LONDON: Tensions are reportedly brewing between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over her recent social media activity, which insiders claim the Duke of Sussex finds too revealing and “Fergie-like.”
According to reports, Meghan shared several personal moments on her Instagram — including a family day at a pumpkin patch with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and cozy home videos featuring Harry. She also posted photos of the couple attending Game 4 of the World Series alongside basketball legend Magic Johnson.
A source close to the couple told Page Six that Harry “isn’t loving the social media displays,” given his past warnings about the dangers of public overexposure online.
“He’s very aware of her parading him around,” the insider said. “He doesn’t love the social media displays or the marketing tie-ins.”
Reports suggest Harry is particularly uncomfortable with Meghan linking her As Ever lifestyle brand to royal memories — such as a “Signature Candle No. 519,” inspired by their May 19, 2018 wedding date. The source added that Harry feels this strategy is “not a great look and very Fergie-esque,” referencing Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, who was often criticized for commercializing her royal connections.
The insider further claimed that Harry is still adjusting to life outside the royal bubble. Once a beloved public figure, he now faces criticism and even booing at public events — a stark contrast to his earlier royal popularity.
“The shine has worn off, which is fair at this point in a relationship,” the source noted. “But he’s also blown up his life for her — and he’s not used to being disliked.”
The couple, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and relocated to California, continue to navigate the challenges of balancing privacy, branding, and public scrutiny in their post-royal lives.
