Actor Sarwat Gilani has confirmed that she will not be returning for the next installment of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.
The Biryani star revealed that after the sequel, she no longer found it pleasant to work with director Nadeem Baig, actor Humayun Saeed, and the rest of the film’s crew. “Suddenly, the attitude shifted, and I felt I no longer belonged there,” she said.
Recalling a specific incident, Gilani shared that she was told the team would travel to London for movie promotions. “I booked my ticket, but no one responded after that,” she said. “It shouldn’t be that way, but they completed their work.”
“I can’t work with people who don’t respect my craft,” Gilani explained, adding that she values respect more than fame.
Speaking about her character, Gul, she said she joined the sequel because she felt the role was incomplete after the first film. “But now it feels like you’re used when needed and tossed aside afterwards,” she remarked.
The Churails actor added that when she tried to raise her concerns with the director, she felt ignored. “The way I was treated made the decision easy for me, even though my character’s arc wasn’t finished.”
Despite this, Gilani expressed pride in her recent projects, particularly her performance in Biryani, which earned widespread acclaim. “I don’t choose roles — the roles choose me,” she said, adding that she looks forward to taking on more dynamic characters in the future.
