ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON, July 28, 2025 — Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that Islamabad is “very close” to finalizing a trade agreement with the U.S. before the August 1 tariff deadline set by President Trump. This deal is expected to align Pakistan with other nations exempted from proposed duties.
U.S.–Pakistan trade totaled approximately $7.3 billion in the previous year. A finalized agreement would shield Pakistan from planned 10% tariffs on general imports and high duties on vehicles and steel, providing significant economic relief.
