Karachi: Karachi police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former lawmaker Alamgir Khan Mehsood on Wednesday after he returned from Islamabad, where he attended a party protest rally.
Media reports state that police took Alamgir into custody from his residence in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, citing multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him in Islamabad.
Alamgir’s family confirmed that he was arrested from their home.
PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar condemned the arrest, announcing that the party would approach the courts to secure Alamgir’s release.
This isn’t the first time Alamgir has faced arrest. He was previously detained outside the Karachi Press Club while protesting with other PTI leaders against Israeli aggression in Palestine.
