According to GRY News on Tuesday, a lady constable in Karachi has been suspended for making a TikTok video in her police uniform.
The video, featuring constable Maria Gill, went viral on social media. Prompting DIG South Syed Asad Raza to take notice and order her suspension. Maria is stationed at Gizri police station in Karachi. DIG South emphasized that the police is a professional institution, and such “irresponsible” behaviour cannot be tolerated.
Maria asked the authorities to reconsider the decision and provide her with justice.
In June, the former AIG Karachi addressed the growing trend of police officers, including female constables, making TikTok videos in uniform. Ex-Karachi police chief Imran Yaqoob Minhas stated that the police uniform is meant for official duties, not personal publicity. He added that making TikTok videos in uniform during duty hours is inappropriate.
