Sheikh Rasheed Rejected Mahesh Bhatt’s Laal Haveli Film Twice

Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed revealed that he declined renowned Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s request to make a film about Laal Haveli, a historic site linked to Rasheed, on two occasions.

In a recent media interaction, Sheikh Rasheed, closely associated with Imran Khan, stated, “Mahesh Bhatt approached me twice from India to create a movie on Laal Haveli. He wanted to tell the story of Dhan Raj, but I did not permit him.”

Rasheed criticized current documentaries about Lal Haveli for being inaccurate. He said, “These documentaries do not represent the true Laal Haveli.”
He also corrected misconceptions about the property’s size, saying, “Contrary to claims of it being 19 canals, Laal Haveli comprises 19 houses, and we only possess a three-quarter marla portion.”

Looking ahead, Rasheed expressed his intention to transform Laal Haveli into a university after his passing.
