Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser announced that the party might return to power in December following the Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats. He mentioned that PTI would consider a “no-confidence motion” against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once they secure the necessary seats in the National Assembly.
Speaking on Geo News’ program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,’ Qaiser expressed optimism that PTI could gain enough seats to form a government by December. He stated that PTI currently does not have sufficient numbers in the lower house to challenge the government but is hopeful about future gains.
Qaiser criticized the incumbent government for allegedly obstructing the allocation of reserved seats to PTI. He expressed confidence that the judiciary would address PTI’s petitions regarding the February 8 election results. Potentially increasing PTI’s strength in the assemblies.
He also criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) for contributing to the country’s political instability. He emphasized that free and fair elections are crucial for resolving the ongoing crisis.
Qaiser also spoke about the ongoing hunger strike initiated by PTI to demand the release of former PM Imran Khan and other party leaders. The party has set up camps outside the Parliament House in Islamabad and the Punjab Assembly in Lahore, where daily token hunger strikes are held.
Rejecting the federal government’s accusations of anti-state intentions. Qaiser reiterated that PTI prioritizes national interests and stands with the security forces.
