Sindh Govt Launches ‘Sasti Basti’ Affordable Housing Project

Karachi: The Sindh government has launched a new housing project called “Sasti Basti” to provide affordable homes for underprivileged citizens, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The project was announced during the 29th Governing Body meeting of the Human Settlement Authority’s annual budget, chaired by Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Human Settlement Authority, Livestock, and Fisheries.

The annual budget and previous meeting minutes were approved during the meeting, which was attended by MPAs Muhammad Yusuf Baloch, Aruba Rabbani, and key officials from Hyderabad and Sukkur.

Najmi Alam highlighted that the “Sasti Basti” project is part of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s vision to help low-income people in Sindh get affordable housing.

The meeting also approved the recruitment of demolition squads to address encroachments in slum areas across the province.

Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, which was also aimed at providing affordable housing for Punjab residents. Dr. Amjad Saqib, founder and chairman of the Akhuwat Foundation, praised Maryam Nawaz for her efforts in reducing electricity bills and supporting the low-cost housing initiative.

Maryam Nawaz appreciated Akhuwat’s social services and announced that the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program is already in progress, with plans to expand annually to help more low-income people own homes.
