Sindh Government to Launch EV Taxi Service with Female Drivers

The Sindh government is set to launch an electric vehicle (EV) taxi service in Karachi, focusing on hiring female drivers. This new initiative aims to improve transportation in the city.

Sindh Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon also introduced a “Pink Taxi Service” to provide women with safer and more convenient travel options.

Memon criticized the caretaker government for mishandling traffic issues, blaming them for recent transportation problems. He assured the current government is working to fix these issues and enhance the city’s transport system.

With the caretaker government’s term ending, the provincial government is moving forward with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, supported by the World Bank. The BRT project, spanning 26.5 kilometers, will include new EV and bio-gas-powered red-line buses to improve public transport.

Memon also criticized the previous government for failing to meet promises on employment and housing, arguing that the current administration has been unfairly blamed for past shortcomings.
