Second Pakistan-Bangladesh Test shifted to Rawalpindi

The second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, initially set for Karachi, has been relocated to Rawalpindi. The first Test will begin on August 21, with the second Test now scheduled for August 30.

The shift was necessary due to ongoing construction at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, which is being prepared for the Champions Trophy 2025. The decision was made after consultations with construction experts and stakeholders.

Initially, the Karachi Test was to be held without spectators, but now cricket fans can watch both matches live in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh A series will proceed as planned in Islamabad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier revealed the revamped design for Karachi’s National Stadium, a key venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The renovation is part of a broader effort to upgrade major cricket venues nationwide.

The renovation will occur in two phases. The first phase, focusing on structural upgrades, is expected to be completed before the Champions Trophy kicks off on February 19, 2025. The second phase, roofing the entire stadium, will be completed after the tournament.
