Petroleum Dealers End Strike After Talks with Government

Karachi: GRY News reported that the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has called off their strike, and petrol pumps are reopening nationwide.

Abdul Sami Khan, the association’s leader, warned they would strike again if their demands were unmet. He emphasized that there is no internal conflict among the petroleum dealers.

Khan stated that the government’s decision to impose a tax of Rs 1 million per petrol pump is unacceptable.

“Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzaib assured us that our issues would be resolved, but our demands have not been met yet,” he added.

With the end of the strike, fuel pumps will reopen across Pakistan, said Abdul Sami Khan.

Earlier today, Karachi faced a fuel shortage as petroleum product stocks ran out due to the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association strike, GRY News reported on Friday.

Fuel stations in Karachi and across Pakistan shut down from 6 AM today following the PPDA’s call for a strike.

Sources indicate that the supply of petroleum products from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing companies’ terminals continues.

Meanwhile, the Oil Tanker Owners Association has distanced itself from the petroleum dealers’ strike. Railways, airports, and power plants are still being supplied with fuel, said Oil Tanker Owners Association President Shams Shahwani.

On Thursday, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) announced that it would ensure the supply of petroleum products nationwide. PSO confirmed its supply chain is fully operational, guaranteeing that petrol pumps would remain stocked despite the strike.
