Pakhtunkhwa Govt to Provide Free Solar Panels to Poor Families

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced it will distribute free 2kV solar panels to low-income families in the province. Following Punjab and Sindh, this initiative aims to help 100,000 families.

Provincial Adviser for Finance Muzammil Aslam stated that the package will include solar panels, electric wires, and inverter fans. He highlighted that Chief Minister Gandapur and his team have set up over 90 power plants, producing electricity at six to seven rupees per unit.

In comparison, Wapda charges Rs 27 per unit for electricity. Muzammil added that they also plan to build their electricity transmission line.

It’s important to note that CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah have also announced similar solar panel programs for low-income families in their provinces, either free or at subsidized prices.
