The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has withdrawn its recently filed Toshakhana case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, from the accountability court in Islamabad, as reported by Dunya News. The decision came during a Monday hearing on the couple’s bail application.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, argued that the case was no longer valid under the recently restored NAB amendments, claiming the alleged crime did not fall under the current legal framework. The NAB prosecutor agreed, stating that the case was outside NAB’s jurisdiction following the amendments.
After deliberating for three hours, the accountability court judge, Muhammad Ali Warraich, transferred the Toshakhana reference to a Special Central Court. This court is set to hear the bail applications on September 10.
This development follows Imran Khan’s appeal for dismissal in a separate 190 million-pound case, citing the Supreme Court’s decision on NAB amendments as a basis for acquittal.
