Justice Mansoor Ali Shah to Miss CJP Swearing-in Ceremony

KARACHI: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is set to depart for Makkah on Thursday to perform Umrah, missing the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi. He will also be unable to attend the farewell reference for outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

Justice Shah will be traveling with his family and is expected to return on November 1. The full court reference for Chief Justice Isa will be held on October 25, and Chief Justice-designate Yahya Afridi will also address the event.

Justice Yahya Afridi will be sworn in as the new Chief Justice on October 26 at the President’s House. President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath in front of 300 guests.

Justice Shah’s absence means he will miss both key events.
