DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police arrested four men on Sunday for cutting a woman’s nose eight months ago after she refused to have relations with them. The incident occurred in the Shah Saddardin area of DG Khan district. According to local sources, the prime suspect, Zafar Lashari, along with three others. Forced a woman named Salmi to have relations with them. When she refused, Lashari cut her nose with a knife and recorded the act on a mobile phone camera.
In a video clip with Dawn, Lashari can be seen cutting the woman’s nose. Sources say the police initially took no action, claiming no complaint was filed.
However, the National Commission of Human Rights of Pakistan took notice of the incident after the video surfaced on social media and sought a report from DG Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali. The DPO then ordered the arrest of the suspects, including Zafar Lashari, Safdar, and two others.
Shah Saddardin police arrested the suspects on the complaint of the victim’s sister, Saharan Bibi, and registered cases under sections 334, 511, and 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Speaking to Dawn, the DPO confirmed the arrests of the suspects involved in the inhuman act.
