Indian journalist Barkha Dutt met with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore. This meeting comes as Pakistan prepares to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
According to GRY News, Barkha Dutt’s visit aligns with international media representatives arriving in Pakistan to cover the high-profile event. The SCO’s 23rd Council of Heads of Government meeting will take place in Islamabad on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The summit will see participation from top officials of SCO member countries, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, and China. India’s External Affairs Minister and China’s Premier Li Qiang are also expected to attend.
Delegations from several countries have already arrived in Islamabad. This includes a four-member Indian team, 76 representatives from Russia, 15 officials from China, and delegations from Iran and Kyrgyzstan.
Despite media interest, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar ruled out any possibility of bilateral talks during the summit, emphasizing that the event remains a multilateral gathering.
