Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar Removed from Office

Hazim Bangwar, known for his unique style, has been removed from his role as assistant commissioner in Karachi. An official notification confirmed his dismissal, directing him to report to the Services and General Administration Department for further instructions, as reported by local news.

Bangwar, who holds a fashion design degree, gained recognition for his distinct approach to the role and has experience in modeling, poetry, and fiction writing. His mother is of Iraqi descent, and his father, Akbar Ali Bangwar, was a former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police. Hazim became an internet sensation last year when he was appointed as assistant commissioner for North Nazimabad in Karachi.

Following his appointment, Bangwar’s social media posts attracted attention, with some delving into his personal life and sharing images online. Assistant Commissioner Sana Tariq Syed confirmed his appointment in an Instagram post, praising him as a talented and dedicated officer, adding that District Central felt proud to have him.

Bangwar recently shared his acceptance into Harvard, clarifying in a tweet that his online studies won’t interfere with his work or require him to leave Pakistan. He expressed gratitude for the support and reassured that he would continue serving the public.

Bangwar has faced public scrutiny for his style and mannerisms, with some labeling him as “transgender” or “female.” In a video shared by journalist Rai Saqib Kharal, Bangwar responded, affirming he is male and expressing offense on behalf of women and the transgender community. He criticized those using these terms as insults, questioning why femininity or being transgender is viewed negatively.

Bangwar holds a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from AIU, London, and later pursued an LLB. A fan of fashion and music, he has collaborated with artists like Jessie J, Ciara, and Nicki Minaj.

    Reason for Removal

The alleged reason for Bangwar’s dismissal has emerged. Sources indicate his removal followed his issuance of eviction notices to three government officials occupying residences designated for Commissioner’s Office officers, based on Sindh High Court and Commissioner directives.

The officials notified included Deputy Secretaries Zahid Jamaica and Fatima Ahmed, who live in the Karachi Commissioner’s compound. The Karachi Commissioner reportedly instructed the South District Deputy Commissioner to enforce the court order, leading to Bangwar’s removal from office and instructions for him to report the matter to the Services and General Administration Department.
