Islamabad: According to GRY News, President Asif Ali Zardari has announced that Arshad Nadeem will be honored with the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his record-breaking performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. The award will be presented during a special ceremony per Article 259 (2) of the Constitution. Recognizing Nadeem’s exceptional contributions to sports.
The President’s Secretariat confirmed that a letter has been dispatched to the Cabinet Division to facilitate the award’s conferment. President Zardari praised Nadeem for making the nation proud on the international stage.
Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medalist. Achieved this historic feat in javelin with a throw of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record. His performance surpassed Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen, who held the previous record since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Nadeem will return to Lahore on Sunday, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will receive him. A grand reception is planned, and the Punjab and Sindh governments will announce rewards of Rs100 million and Rs50 million, respectively, in recognition of his remarkable achievement.
