On Monday, Apple introduced its first set of artificial intelligence features, called “Apple Intelligence,” across its iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, marking the company’s entry into generative AI.
Initially previewed in June, this release positions Apple alongside other US tech giants, including Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, in the push toward AI-powered technology. These companies view generative AI as a new era of computing.
“Apple Intelligence is generative AI in a way only Apple can deliver, and we’re thrilled about its potential to enhance our users’ lives,” Apple CEO Tim Cook shared in a blog post.
New AI features include enhanced writing tools, advanced photo search, and an upgraded, more conversational Siri. By December, Apple plans to integrate ChatGPT-like features, allowing users to generate custom emojis and create images from text descriptions.
Currently, these features are available only on the latest iPhones, iPads, and Macs in US English, with additional languages expected next year.
