VISAKHAPATNAM: Australia cruised to a comfortable five-wicket victory over India in the second T20I, chasing down a modest target of 146 in just 13.2 overs to claim a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head set the tone early, smashing a rapid 51-run partnership in 28 balls. Head struck 28 off 15 before Varun Chakravarthy dismissed him. Marsh continued his explosive form, hammering 46 off 26 balls with four sixes and two boundaries before falling to Kuldeep Yadav.
Although India briefly bounced back with wickets from Chakravarthy and Yadav, Marcus Stoinis sealed the win with a composed finish after a mini-collapse triggered by Jasprit Bumrah’s double strike.
Earlier, India collapsed for 125 in 18.4 overs, despite a lone fightback from Abhishek Sharma, who top-scored with a brilliant 68 off 37 balls. Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for just 13 runs, while Bartlett and Ellis picked up two each.
