Islamabad: The Pakistan Army successfully repelled multiple cross-border attacks launched by the Afghan Taliban and Khawarij militants near the Spin Boldak border area, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.
According to the ISPR, the attacks occurred early on October 15 at four locations along the Pak-Afghan border. Pakistani forces swiftly responded, thwarting all assaults and preventing further damage.
The military noted that the attacks originated from divided villages, showing complete disregard for civilian safety. The Afghan Taliban also destroyed the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate on their side of the border — a move the ISPR said reflected hostility toward trade and tribal cooperation.
In response, Pakistani forces carried out targeted counter-operations, killing 15 to 20 Taliban fighters and injuring several others. Intelligence reports suggest that Taliban and Khawarij terrorists are regrouping at various staging points along the border.
Separately, terrorists attempted to attack Pakistani border posts in the Kurram Sector on the night between October 14 and 15. The attempt was foiled, with Pakistani troops destroying eight Afghan posts and six tanks, eliminating 25 to 30 militants.
The ISPR rejected Taliban claims of capturing Pakistani posts or equipment, calling them baseless propaganda. It emphasized that the Pakistan Army remains fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty and deliver a decisive response to any aggression.
