Much relief has been brought in Karachi, and floodwaters have subsided with essential services slowly coming back. Nevertheless, the risk of urban flooding exists because of poor drainage system that is poorly designed to handle the amount of water received in the recent rains. Flood alerts have been issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) requesting people to be attentive.
Flood preparedness and relief strategies are being being developed by the Sindh government in order to reduce future hazards. The people are encouraged to be aware of the situation via authorities and practice relevant safety measures to keep them safe.
