Jay Shah Becomes New ICC Chairman

Jay Shah has officially taken over as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), starting his term on Sunday.

“I am honored to take on the role of ICC Chair and grateful for the trust and support of the ICC Directors and Member Boards,” Shah said in a statement from the ICC.

Shah has been the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since 2019 and brings years of administrative experience to his new role.

Before this, he worked as a district and state cricket administrator with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). Shah also served as President of the Asian Cricket Council and headed the ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee.

“This is an exciting time for cricket as we prepare for the LA28 Olympics and aim to make the sport more inclusive and widely loved,” Shah added. “We are focused on balancing different formats, growing women’s cricket, and expanding cricket globally. Our mission is to engage with fans and provide top-notch resources and platforms for players worldwide.”

Shah’s appointment comes as cricket enters a critical phase, with the ICC working on innovation and expanding its global reach.
