BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe: Saim Ayub smashed a brilliant century as Pakistan cruised to a 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second ODI at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, leveling the three-match series.
Chasing a modest target of 146, Pakistan reached 148-0 in just 18.2 overs. Zimbabwe, who chose to bat first, were bowled out for 145 in 32.3 overs.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed took 4-33, while Salman Ali Agha claimed 3-26 to dismantle Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. In response, Saim dominated the chase with his aggressive batting.
The 22-year-old reached his maiden ODI century in just 53 balls, smashing boundaries all around the ground. He remained unbeaten on 113. His opening partner, Abdullah Shafique, supported him with a steady 32 not out.
This emphatic performance was a stark contrast to Pakistan’s defeat in the first ODI on Sunday, where Zimbabwe won by 80 runs (DLS method) after rain interrupted play.
The third and final ODI will take place on Thursday in Bulawayo before both teams face off in a three-match T20I series.
