Who Harassed Wasim Akram in Perth, and Why?

Former Pakistan cricket captain and legendary bowler Wasim Akram faced harassment from a cricket fan during the ongoing Test series between India and Australia in Perth.

According to the Daily Mail, the incident happened after Akram had already signed an autograph for the fan earlier in the day. As Akram was leaving the venue following his broadcasting duties for Star Sports, the fan approached him again and began hurling abusive remarks while Akram tried to catch a cab.

The situation left Akram visibly upset. Security staff quickly intervened and removed the fan from the scene. While the fan’s behavior was unacceptable, reports confirmed it was not racially motivated. It remains unclear if the individual was intoxicated at the time.

In response, Cricket Australia assured Akram that security measures would be tightened for the remainder of the match. They also announced increased security around commentators during live broadcasts and offered commentators the option of being escorted directly into the venue by car to ensure their safety.
