A trial court in Rawalpindi has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, in the £190 million reference case.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana issued the warrant at Adiala Jail after Bushra Bibi failed to appear for today’s hearing. The court noted her repeated absences from the proceedings as the reason for the decision.
During the session, Imran Khan, currently held at Adiala Jail, was presented before the court. Bushra Bibi’s lawyer requested an exemption from her appearance, citing medical grounds and submitting a report from Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital. However, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) official raised objections, pointing out discrepancies, including the report’s attestation in Islamabad.
Additionally, neither Imran Khan nor Bushra Bibi submitted their statements under Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Both had been given a 79-point questionnaire to provide their final responses during an earlier hearing.
Bushra Bibi was previously released on bail last month after spending about nine months in custody in the Toshakhana case.
