The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday approved bail for former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana 2.0 case, ordering his immediate release from jail.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the IHC approved Khan’s bail application, requiring two surety bonds worth Rs1 million each from separate guarantors.
Last week, a special court in Islamabad rejected acquittal pleas from Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the same case. Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand issued the ruling, with formal charges expected to be filed on November 18.
The Toshakhana 2.0 case accuses Khan and Bushra Bibi of keeping state gifts without fulfilling legal requirements.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected Khan’s plea for interim bail in all cases against him on the same day.
During the hearing, the Punjab Home Department stated no cases had been filed against Khan in the province. However, a federal government lawyer informed the court that Islamabad Police had registered 62 cases against the PTI leader.
