Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been arrested in California after a two-year manhunt.
His arrest follows a non-bailable warrant issued by the Mumbai Police. According to reports, the US Immigration Department found that Anmol had been traveling with forged documents. He fled to the US in May 2022 under the alias “Bhanu,” using a fake passport and a fabricated reference letter.
The arrest was a joint effort by Indian and US authorities. The FBI worked closely with Indian agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Mumbai Police, to plan the extradition. Indian officials reviewed evidence with the FBI, though the US State Department referred jurisdictional questions to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Anmol Bishnoi is a key player in the Bishnoi crime syndicate, involved in violent crimes, extortion, and arms smuggling. He faces charges in at least 18 criminal cases, including murder and shootings.
