Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has dismissed recent media reports claiming she has throat cancer. She clarified that her health issue is related to her parathyroid gland, not cancer.
Speaking at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) event in London alongside her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam said she recently underwent medical tests in Geneva. “I am cancer-free and expect to return to Pakistan in two days,” she confirmed.
Health Condition and Medical Treatment
Maryam explained that she has been dealing with a parathyroid problem, which can only be treated in Switzerland or the U.S. “I’ve been working tirelessly for eight months and went to Geneva for check-ups,” she added, firmly rejecting the cancer rumors.
She mentioned that she initially chose to keep her health private but decided to speak out after recent speculation. She assured her supporters of her quick return to Pakistan.
Optimism for Pakistan’s Future
At the event, Nawaz Sharif praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam for their efforts, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s future.
Maryam highlighted Pakistan’s recent economic achievements, including record stock market highs and growing national reserves. “The world is watching Pakistan and wants to invest here. Every new day brings hope for prosperity,” she said.
