An earthquake struck Islamabad and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday, causing panic and fear among residents.
The Pakistan Seismological Center reported that the tremors were felt in Chitral, Buner, and nearby areas, as well as in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Shangla, Malakand, and other parts of KP.
Other affected cities in KP included Swat, Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Hangu, Mansehra, Khyber, Bara, Landi Kotal, Jamrud, and Tirah, along with surrounding areas.
According to the Pakistan Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 220 kilometers. Its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
In KP, cities affected by the quake included Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Swat, North Waziristan, Hangu, Mardan, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Dir, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan, Abbottabad, and Kurram.
The tremors were also felt in other cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lalamusa, and Sangla Hill. However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties or property damage.
