Pakistani-American entrepreneurs have pledged to invest over $20 million in Pakistan’s IT sector, announced during the Pakistan-US Tech Investment Conference held in California.
The event, organized by the Pakistani Consulate in Los Angeles, was officially opened by Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US. The conference was supported by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of IT & Telecom, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Held at Stanford University, the conference was attended by IT companies, venture capitalists, tech professionals, members of the Pakistani diaspora, government officials, and journalists.
In her keynote speech, Pakistan’s IT Minister, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted the government’s commitment to growing the IT industry and achieving a $25 billion export target. She encouraged the diaspora to invest in Pakistan, noting investor-friendly policies in place.
Minister Khawaja also shared that Pakistan’s IT industry was thriving, with exports already exceeding $3 billion. The government is focused on fostering innovation and sustaining momentum in both technology and economic growth.
The PSEB delegation, led by its CEO, brought 11 Pakistani startups to the event. A representative from the US State Department’s economic team for Pakistan also attended, reinforcing support from Washington.
