The US election concluded with Donald Trump being re-elected as President, and his Republican Party gained a majority in the Senate.

Several Pakistani-American candidates representing different parties ran in the 2024 elections across various states. So far, three Pakistani-origin candidates have secured victories, while others await their results.

Winners:

  • Suleman Lalani: Elected on the Democratic Party ticket in Texas.
  • Salman Bhojani: Won on the Democratic Party ticket in Texas.
  • Ali Sheikhani: Represented the Republican Party in Texas.

Awaiting Results:

  • Ayesha Farooqi: Running on the Republican Party ticket in Michigan.
  • Amir Sultan: Republican candidate in New York.
  • Maryam Safi: Democratic candidate in Pennsylvania.
  • Aaron Bashir: The only Pakistani-American candidate for Congress, contesting in Pennsylvania.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his second victory, expressing hopes to strengthen the Pakistan-US partnership. In his message on social media, PM Shehbaz shared his optimism for enhanced cooperation under Trump’s leadership.

PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance. He hoped that US-Pakistan relations, especially in economic and security areas, would strengthen under Trump’s new term. Bilawal also emphasized the expectation that President Trump will promote global peace and stability.
