LONDON: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa faced harassment from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters during a visit to London, where he attended a ceremony held in his honor at the Middle Temple by The Honourable Society.
Isa, the first Pakistani judge invited to a prestigious Tuesday dinner at Middle Temple, was en route to the event when a group of PTI activists gathered to protest his presence. The protesters reportedly tried to block his vehicle, which was provided by Pakistan’s High Commission, and even attempted to break its windows. Despite a police escort, the activists briefly obstructed the vehicle, running alongside and chanting slogans.
PTI leaders Zulfi Bukhari, Malika Bukhari, and Azhar Mashwani addressed the crowd near Middle Temple, criticizing Isa’s judicial record. Their remarks highlighted the ongoing tensions between PTI supporters and judiciary members viewed as critical of their party.
The Middle Temple event honored Isa’s achievements and judicial contributions, marking an important international recognition. Isa and his wife, Sarina, remained safe, and the protest eventually subsided without further incident.
This incident is similar to one last year when PTI supporters harassed Judge Humayun Dilawar, who had convicted PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case, during his visit to London.
