The Islamabad Traffic Police has launched a special Smart Traffic Response Unit (STRU) to enhance traffic flow in the capital and provide citizens with better travel facilities.
Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk spoke to APP on Sunday, explaining that the unit will manage traffic diversions on main roads during emergencies and law enforcement situations. It will also help keep traffic moving, assist citizens, provide travel information, and guide them on alternative routes.
Sarfraz Virk added that the unit will educate citizens about lane violations and traffic laws while taking strict legal action against serious traffic offenders. The unit aims to improve traffic flow during peak hours around commercial areas, schools, and other busy locations.
He further emphasized that this unit aligns with the vision of IGP Islamabad, focusing on ensuring that citizens have every possible travel facility and safe journeys.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police are implementing extensive measures to assist citizens and encourage compliance with traffic laws, as following these laws is essential for safety.
