Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Issued for KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur

Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case involving the recovery of arms and liquor. A court in Islamabad issued the warrant after Gandapur failed to appear before the court despite multiple calls.

The KP chief minister had requested an exemption from court attendance on medical grounds, but the court rejected his plea. Civil Judge Shaista Khan Kundi directed the Barakahu Station House Officer (SHO) to arrest Gandapur and present him in court.

The court expressed frustration as Gandapur’s lawyer provided conflicting reasons for his absence, citing medical issues and flood-related duties. The judge noted that this was the eighth time a statement could not be recorded under Section 342 and emphasized that the trial must proceed.

The case, which dates back to October 2016, involves the alleged recovery of five Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, six magazines, a bullet-proof vest, teargas shells, and bottles of alcohol from Gandapur’s vehicle. At the time, Gandapur was serving as a provincial minister in KP. He was charged under illegal arms and anti-drugs laws.

The hearing has been adjourned until Thursday.
