Balaj Tipu Murder Suspect Killed by Accomplices in Police Encounter

Lahore: A suspect in the Balaj Tipu murder case was killed by his accomplices during a failed escape attempt, according to the police. DSP Muhammad Ali Butt from the Iqbal Town Organised Crime Unit said that Ahsan Shah, the suspect, was being taken to Shadbagh by the police to identify evidence when his accomplices attacked, attempting to free him.

During the exchange, Ahsan was hit by the bullets fired by his accomplices and died. The police managed to escape the gunfire while the attackers fled the scene. DIG Imran Kishwar of the Lahore Organised Crime Unit has formed a team led by DSP Muhammad Ali to track down the suspects, and a search operation is underway.

Balaj Tipu was murdered a few months ago at the wedding of a retired DSP’s son in the Chung area. Investigations revealed that Ahsan Shah, a close friend of Balaj, had provided information to the attackers and participated in the surveillance leading up to the murder. He was arrested shortly after the incident.

The encounter occurred while Ahsan was transferred from jail to Shadbagh for evidence identification. The police have shifted his body to a morgue, and investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, 34-year-old Ameer Balaj was shot dead by an assailant who was also killed in a crossfire with Balaj’s guards. Balaj’s younger brother, Ameer Mussab, had named Gogi Butt and Teefi Butt in the FIR.
