Islamabad Cancels PTI’s NOC for Tarnol Rally

The Islamabad administration has canceled the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled in Tarnol on August 22.

Last month, PTI had to delay a rally in Islamabad after the district administration withdrew its approval. Despite this, PTI senior member Ali Amin Gandapur, who is also the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced the party would still hold a rally on August 22.

A notification from the Chief Commissioner’s office on August 21 cited advice from law enforcement and other departments. Stating that Islamabad’s current law and order situation does not permit the gathering. As a result, the NOC granted by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad on July 31 has been revoked.
Even with the NOC cancellation, PTI plans to go ahead with the rally in Islamabad on Thursday.

PTI Islamabad President Amir Mughal said that while the district administration canceled the notification, “we haven’t canceled the jalsa.” He added, “A peaceful political struggle is our constitutional and legal right.”
