Police have arrested an employee of a private hospital in Lahore for allegedly raping an unconscious female patient.
A man had brought his wife to the hospital in Garden Town for treatment, during which she was briefly rendered unconscious. A hospital staff member told the husband to wait outside the room until his wife regained consciousness.
After a while, the man entered the room and found the hospital employee allegedly raping his wife. He immediately called the police via the 15 helpline, but the suspect fled the scene before they arrived.
The Virtual Women Police Station sent a team to the hospital and registered a case against the suspect, who was arrested.
Rape cases in Pakistani hospitals are not uncommon. Just two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred in Abbottabad, where police arrested a doctor accused of raping a teenage girl who was visiting him with other female family members for treatment.
