Dubai police released famous Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on bail after a brief arrest due to a criminal defamation complaint from his former manager, Salman Ahmad. Rahat, detained at the Bur Police station, urged his followers in a video statement to disregard rumours about his arrest, although he confirmed his detention and questioning.
The complaint moved to police action on July 13, when Salman’s lawyers presented it, leading to Rahat’s arrest upon his arrival in Dubai from Lahore for a music project. He was initially held at the immigration centre before police took him for further questioning. After giving his statement, he secured release through his Dubai manager and legal team.
Rahat and Salman have multiple ongoing legal disputes in Pakistan, Dubai, and the USA involving accusations of criminal defamation and contract breaches, all of which Rahat denies.
Reiterating his innocence, Rahat addressed his fans on Instagram, stating he travelled to Dubai for a recording session and dismissing any claims of his arrest as unfounded. He expressed eagerness to return to Pakistan and continue producing hit songs, appealing for ongoing support from his fans.
